There is alternative handling and release equipment that meets the minimal design specifications that can be used by participants in some specific fisheries.The specifications of this equipment can be found in 50 CFR Parts 223 and 635 Atlantic Highly Migratory Species (HMS) Pelagic Longline Fishery; Final Rule and in the NOAA Technical Memorandum NMFS-SEFSC-524.
